  • Polaroid will bring instant photos into the digital age on Saturday, July 6, 2008, when its pocket-sized, inkless digital printer - Polaroid PoGo™ - launches at Best Buy stores (MSRP: $149). Polaroid PoGo™ will be available at Target stores nationwide July 20.
     
  • The Polaroid PoGo™ - short for Polaroid-on-the-go - prints full-color, 2-inch by 3-inch photos from cell phones via Bluetooth and from digital cameras via PictBridge.
     
  • Images are created in less than 60 seconds using ZINK Photo Paper™, a durable material that contains colorless cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals, which are activated through heat pulses.
     
  • The ZINK Photo Paper™ is manufactured by ZINK Imaging and will retail for between 43 and 49 cents per print; 10-packs cost $4.99, while 30 packs cost $12.99

MINNEAPOLIS (May 29, 2008) – The magic of Polaroid instant pictures will leap into the digital age this July when Polaroid PoGo™ launches at Best Buy stores nationwide.
 

Polaroid PoGo™ - short for Polaroid-on-the-go - is a pocket-sized, inkless digital photo printer that produces full-color photos wirelessly from Bluetooth-enabled cell phones and via PictBridge from digital cameras. Introduced at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2008, the next evolution of instant photography will be available nationwide at Best Buy stores on July 6, 2008, for $149. Polaroid PoGo™ will be available in Target stores nationwide on July 20, 2008.

 

"Polaroid introduced the world to instant photography more than 60 years ago, and this year we’re redefining instant photography for the digital age,” said Tom Petters, chairman of Polaroid. “Polaroid PoGo™ is an innovative and easy-to-use way to share photos instantly – and pictures come to life without ink.”

 
Weighing only eight ounces, Polaroid PoGo™ provides consumers with a convenient solution for sharing digital images trapped on cell phones and digital cameras. Connecting via Bluetooth or PictBridge, Polaroid PoGo™ uses a revolutionary ZINK™ Zero Ink™ Printing Technology to produce borderless, full-color, 2-inch by 3-inch prints in less than 60 seconds.
 
The full-color digital photos are created without ink cartridges or ribbons using ZINK Photo Paper™, keeping the printer to about the size of a deck of cards. The paper is a durable material that contains colorless cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals. Heat activation brings photos to life, colorizing ZINK™ dye crystals, so digital photos can be shared instantly.

ZINK Photo Paper™ is manufactured by ZINK Imaging and will retail for between 33 and 40 cents per print; 10-packs will cost $3.99, while 30 packs will cost $9.99.
